In the Adolescent mind, amazing re-organization and chiseling is occurring! Old, unused nerve pathways are disappearing and many others are being shaped and fortified. A number of these spectacular functions occur in the front portion of the brain, which is located behind the eyes and forehead area. This section of the mind is often known as the Executive; it organizes and controls several varied reasoning functions. These functions include goal setting, organization, attention, working memory, judgment, and control of emotions and motives.
Meanwhile, Hormones have begun their work in the mind where they affect mood, feeling pursuing, sexual driving forces, and emotional regulation. The once obedient, responsible kid suddenly becomes a danger taking bulk of emotional meltdowns and behavioral contradictions. However, as hard as this developmental period might be, adults do have tools which could result in positive outcomes.
Because Teenagers have variations in focus and short term memory, information and instructions should be brief and clear. Like most people, kids learn best when information is relevant to their current benefits.
